Dear Members of the Korean Society for Radiation Oncology,
On behalf of the 23rd Executive Committee, I would like to express my deepest gratitude and respect to all past presidents, executive board members, and every member of our Society who have devoted themselves to the academic advancement of radiation oncology and the promotion of public health. Thanks to your passion and dedication, the Korean Society for Radiation Oncology (KOSRO) has become a central pillar of cancer treatment in Korea and has achieved academic accomplishments recognized on the global stage.
Today, we are witnessing the rapid rise of innovative technologies-such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and genome-based precision medicine-that were unimaginable in the past. At the same time, societal expectations for building a sustainable healthcare system and strengthening essential medical services continue to grow. These developments present both new challenges and unprecedented opportunities for our field, and our Society is committed to responding proactively to these evolving trends.
The 23rd Executive Committee will not remain complacent with our current achievements. Instead, we will actively embrace change and innovation to further strengthen our academic foundation and foster an environment where the creativity and expertise of our members can fully flourish. We will focus on advancing personalized precision cancer treatment, particle therapy, AI- and digital health-integrated clinical care and research, and multidisciplinary treatment strategies in collaboration with surgery, systemic therapy, and immuno-oncology. Through these initiatives, we will strive to align our clinical practice and research with the latest global trends in oncology.
We are also committed to cultivating the next generation of leaders who will drive the future of radiation oncology, ensuring sustainable and continuous progress in our field. Additionally, we will expand our global network by fostering active collaborations not only with domestic medical societies but also with international academic organizations and radiation oncology societies worldwide. By enhancing communication and strengthening member-centered initiatives, we aim to support your clinical, research, and academic activities and promote a dynamic and inclusive Society. We will continue to ensure that the voices of our members are reflected in the operation and direction of the Society through transparency, openness, and active engagement.
This journey cannot be accomplished by the Executive Committee alone. It is through the interest, participation, and collective wisdom of each member that our Society will continue to grow into a stronger and more vibrant organization. We will continue to listen attentively to your valuable insights and work together to build a Society that advances with unity and purpose. The 23rd Executive Committee will remain steadfast in its efforts to lead KOSRO toward a new leap forward as a pioneer in the era of future precision cancer treatment.
Thank you.
Tae Hyun Kim, M.D., Ph.D.
